Designed to test for Legionella in both water and biofilms in risk areas identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, such as showers, industrial and domestic water systems, spas and bathtubs. Uses an immunochromatographic assay to detect the presence of cell surface antigens from Legionella bacteria in a sample. The presence of antigen causes the “Test Line” to turn red in colour. The filtration step concentrates the Legionella bacteria to achieve a sensitivity level of 0.01 CFU/ ML in water samples, and a sensitivity of 0.02 CFU/ML in biofilms.
The LegionellaMAX Test Kit uses an immunochromatographic assay to detect the presence of cell surface antigens from Legionella bacteria in a sample. The presence of antigen causes the “Test Line” to turn red in colour. A “Control Line” is included which will always turn red if the test has been performed correctly.

| No cross reactions have been observed at concentrations ≤ 10⁹ CFU/L. Staphylococcus aureus has been observed to cross react with the test at concentrations > 10⁸ CFU/L, which is higher than found in most water samples.
Legionella pneumophila serogroups 4 & 7 cross react with the test at concentrations > 6×10⁹ CFU/L. The test does not react with any other L. pneumophila serogroups or L. species tested. |
